A Sparrow named Buddy

Have you ever heard a sparrow's chirpy sounds early in the morning felt exhilarated?
After a huge gap of almost three years,my little sparrows have returned to the balcony.
While living in Europe by itself is a journey amidst nature, this little turn of life has affected Maverick in ways more than one.
It is such a pleasure to see the little sparrow chewing and tugging at the little grains of rice with all its might.

I now have a friend in France and I decide to call her Buddy! Wish she could speak too.

Its been a long time since Maverick was forced to relocate, by the Forces of Nature.
Not that Maverick regretted it, but looking back, the journey's been quite tough.
A trip to Switzerland and the decision to stay back was immediately regretted.Where Swiss cheese smacks of affluence, the grass is not so greener on the other side of the pasture.
A very visible lack of respect for anything remotely related to the Empire did take Maverick aback.Now they say the dwarf is a clown.The progressive ones would not agree.The dwarf is responsible for pulling them out of slumber and sheer inbuilt lethargy.The dwarf has a vision inspite of being seen as a poodle for Uncle Sam ditto gowardhan from the empire.
A complete lack of communication or remnants thereof was a trifle irritating intitially however now the dust seems to settle. Where recession knocked the winds out of many a sails, it also brought some unwanted attention to many of the aliens.These aliens are slowly climbing the social rungs which is perceived as a threat to the social fabric.
Rueing each act as a lunacy, Maverick has been forced to accomodate many unwanted genstures.Since giving nicknames is usually spiked with malice, or good-natured malice, Maverick decided to mimic the Brits here, as history has proved they they are the best at this game.

Maverick was often singled out for caricature but always managed to secretly feel flattered for all this attention.Maverick's so called affluence is slowly becoming like an impenetrable coat of armour.Maverick is reading Mao Zedong just so to understand the deft management of superannuation.Maverick is also trying to put pet names for the warts that one moans about but grows kind of used to.They are like a beauty spot which is scientifically a blemish but which becomes familiar and personal with time,and thus the acceptance follows.We all wear masks in public is a truth very difficult to admit.Putting two and two together does not make it twenty-two quite literaly.Today's mind is a mess which has disabled so many rational thoughts.Words follow endlessly like a stream.Going to Toscana is the latest pre-occupation of the mind, but escapism was never a solution.Calling a spade a spade always hurt someone.
But it is always better to hurt than to never heal.Uska zakhm nasoor na ban jaye,iski dua karo yaaro...
Today is also a day for going to apply a long term residency ; and thus Maverick's journey continues......

Consenting Adults in Conscientious India !

I am not really a proponent for the gays.To my mind, being gay is not normal, but if God has made someone that way, there must be some hidden meaning to this state of the mind.

India's landmark ruling for Gays however,could not have come at a more opportune time. We are after all in the 21st century and set to be the next so called Super-Power, aren't we?

Now consider the facts.

In our country:
1. Girls are beaten up in Pubs in the name of culture.
2. Boy and a girl seen holding hands in a park, are beaten up by the Police in the name of culture.
3. If consenting adults decide to choose their partners,they are beaten up (murdered sometimes) in the name of family honour and offcourse culture !
4. If consenting adults marry in another caste, they are beaten up!
5. An HIV+ve women was paraded naked by the Doctors, with a band on her head saying "I am HIV+ve"

So,after so many scenarios in the name of culture, I really pity the court ruling for Gays.
They are already an ostracised lot in our society. No court can come to their rescue when they are caught in the act by the wellwishers of our culture.
Moral policing in India operates completely on a different level as compared to elsewhere.

Inspite of the ruling, members of the community will not be able to come out so very openly, lest their loved ones despise them or people like the Muthalik sena hound them like dogs.

More often than not, they are emotionally blackmailed all in the name of family honor.Those who succumb to peer and family pressure,lead emotionally tortured lives and those who do not give in, lead lives of anonymity with only people like their own self for comfort.They do not get jobs either !

Our society does not tolerate anybody who dares to be a little different.
The most commonly seen Eunuchs are also tolerated only because they threaten to bare themself and create nuisance. They are however given a red carpet welcome in marriages just so to get their best wishes for the newly weds !

What a farce our society is.We are really and truly hypocrites. We will tolerate and support all sinful(so to say) acts in the society as long as it is happening in the neighbour's house.

Till the next Conscientious change, let's keep the faith for each consenting adult !

The Bi-Yearly review !

A long vacation is long overdue.So, as the summer sets in, Maverick will review the bi-yearly resolutions.Maverick's been naughty lately, and so now has decided to put an end to all this and devised a plan.

Have laid some goals in front before I get back to office after vacations whenever that is:

* Maverick will aim to be a "Purple Cow", and strive to find one too
* Reduce the excess fat from my body would have to top the list but I lose it again!
* Get to be a better cook
* Learn Guitar
* Develop and put in more creative posts on the blog(This time, I Promise to lampoon them with satire!)
* Help Mom to learn to use the internet.
* Learn how to unlearn
* Find a time pass like teaching English,or making software so there is a routine.
* Find the isolated spots near the Isere or Drac, and set up my own little clearing.
* Will get myself insured against people who do not know what is a debate.
* Get better at Project Management

So, for the first time the tech part sits at bottom, because Maverick's wants to explore life outside the Laptop !

Sarko ka Fatwa

This time it is Sarkozy who has invited the wrath of the Deoband guys now that they have reunited the Fiza and Chand Mohammad after a whole lot of drama.

Sarkozy feels that "the Burqa is not a symbol of religion but a symbol of subservience of women"
He is not going to allow it on French territory.

OK, so what next? Fatwa?

Deoband needs to provide to its people, a vision which extends beyond the tip of their nose.
Every Country has the right to allow and disallow what they feel is not acceptable in their culture and what is wrong if Sarkozy had the guts to state it openly?
